25

25. A quarter of a century. Quarter life crisis? I have officially reached that milestone. Maybe not a quarter life crisis… maybe. ☺ In honor of my 25th year I wanted to write out a list of 25 things about me. Here we go!

1. I am a child of God. I’m so thankful for that and the fact that there is a Creator that cares for me more than I could imagine and has a plan for my life way bigger than I could ever plan.
2. I love my family. I love spending time with them. Including extended family. I am very blessed.
3. I have great friends. Deidre, Brittany, and Kelsey are such important people in my life and I would be bored without them. I also wouldn’t have as many good and funny stories without them in my life.
4. I love my job at Graffiti 2. It rarely feels like a job that I have to go to. I get to work with great kids, teens, and parents.
5. I’ve always wanted my life to be like FRIENDS. I live in New York, but I need more friends before my life will truly resemble the show- but with Christian values and morals.
6. I think my life would be a great reality show. It would have been best with Kelsey and I together, but I still have plenty of great episodes occasionally. It would be a comedy, drama, and even a thriller every now and then, and very emotional- probably close to Extreme Home Makeover.
7. I enter contests regularly. Most frequently is a Rite Aid giveaway for $10,000. I believe I will win a big one some day. The contest I’ve won most is the “Girlfriend Party” at Bare Escentuals.
8. Speaking of… I am obsessed with Bare Escentuals. Specifically, eye shadows. I have a drawer dedicated to eye shadow with 46 colors. Before you judge and think I spend my money poorly, about half I share with Kelsey and this has been a collection that has grown over time. Because of this obsession, I have really great eye shadow most days.
9. I love sports. I played volleyball for 8 years and love playing basketball, football, and tennis also. I love watching Spurs basketball.
10. I have a growing enjoyment of fresh flowers. I used to think they are a waste of money, but I do enjoy having them from time to time. I bought some for myself for the first time and it might become a small splurge occasionally. My favorites are daisies, tulips, lilies, and orchids.
11. I think New York is the most romantic place and I hope to fall in love and get married here someday. Preferably sooner rather than later. ☺
12. I’ve thought about writing a book someday. It would be about life as a missionary and would basically be an autobiography. I would use stories from my experience at Graffiti 2 and I have my blogs from the past couple years to get me started.
13. I have an incredible apartment. I have a spiral staircase leading up to my bedroom and a balcony outside my room. I painted it green when I moved in. One day I hope to make a video blog with a tour of my apartment.
14. I enjoy cooking and baking, but most of what I eat can be made in 10 minutes or less. I love bagel pizzas and bean and cheese tacos. They never get old.
15. I wash my hair every three days. Sometimes four, but rarely anything less than three. And just by looking, you probably wouldn’t even know what day it was.
16. I speak movie and tv shows. Most common quotes come from FRIENDS and Cougar Town, plus popular chick flicks. BINGO BANGO!
17. I have always been a shy person. I’ve gotten better as I’ve gotten older, but am still very much an introvert. I rarely like being the center of attention and become more of a listener than a talker in large groups.
18. I love fall. Especially in New York City. It is a great season with great weather and clothes! No bulky coat, but cute jackets, boots, and scarves are all wearable. Gorgeous leaves and cool temps make it perfect.
19. I’ve become pretty good at catching mice in my apartment. I don’t know an exact count, but it’s probably been around 10 (in the 2 years I’ve lived in this apartment). I get braver with each one, but it still scares me. The first one would have given weeks of material for the reality show.
20. I love Tex-Mex. I could eat chips and salsa or tortillas and queso every day and never get tired of it. The best come from Alamo Café and Dos Salsas. I can also make some mean homemade salsa. My papa taught me years ago and it is always a crowd favorite!
21. Another one of my life’s ambitions is to open up a restaurant. It will be called “Blanquitos”. Actually, the correct form would probably be “Blanquitas” because it is translated “white girls”. In order for me to do this, Kelsey has to move back to New York and do it with me. We will serve all of our favorite foods that we make. Some items on the menu will include: a variety of pizzas, breakfast tacos, salsa, guacamole, limitless varieties of cupcakes, tortillas, kolaches, cakeballs, virgin margaritas and other slushy drinks, popsicles, potstickers, wontons, and so much more!
22. I’ve passed out a couple of times for no apparent reason. Apparently I have a “cracked melon” as Kelsey calls it. I’ve seen doctors but nothing was figured out. Both times were seizure-like in mild ways. It’s been a couple years since it happened last, so maybe I’m healed!
23. I love the Dixie Chicks and never want them to stop making music. One day I’d like to learn to play “Cowboy Take Me Away” on the fiddle like Martie. I’d also love to sing like any of them.
24. My favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! I also love butterflies and associate them with this verse.
25. I want to go on a trip for my 25th birthday. I am not too picky on where it is, but I want to celebrate big (which is obviously not happening on the actual day) and that includes going somewhere fun with great friends. Options I’ve thrown out are California, Vegas, or somewhere in the Caribbean. I just want to stay in a nice hotel with an incredible pool to lounge by for a few days. I’m trying to convince all my friends to start saving now and we can all celebrate 25 together. After all, this is a milestone, right?
