One year ago today I moved to New York! It doesn't feel like that long ago at all. I remember how extremely excited I was and how surprised I was when I got to the Osborne's and found out that I would be sharing a one bedroom apartment with a family of 3. I remember going straight to the Bronx and completely interrupting bible study when I arrived. Let's do a quick recap of my year!
May 27th- Moved to NY
June- finished after school program, spontaneously joined in the Missouri trip for teenagers
July- Sports and Fine Arts Camps
August- stayed at the Field's and enjoyed vacation at home with family and friends
September- started a 2nd after school program (and the journey begins...)
October- enjoyed what a real fall felt like, Fall Festival in after school
November- coordinated Thanksgiving baskets, enjoyed a NYC Thanksgiving with the fam
December- G2's Christmas celebration and holidays with the fam in Texas
January- Back to after school, things are much slower and not as busy
February- Started summer trip fundraiser, spent countless hours on video editing
March- fun month with 2 college mission teams, turned 23 :)
April- Easter Egg Hunt was rained out, but was still a success, Dad came to visit
May- Amanda came to visit to check out G2, started planning for summer all over again
I can't believe this will be my third summer here. I feel like such a veteran.
This weekend I saw Shrek the musical. It was good, but I'm not sure I would recommend it. There are just so many others that I like better that I would recommend before it. It was pretty funny and entertaining, but still not at the top of my list. After the show, I was walking to the subway on 57th or so on a quieter block. I saw a couple people taking a picture with someone and I looked and saw that it was Nicolas Cage. I almost didn't recognize him. He had longer, dread-like hair. I had my camera with me, but I didn't want to ask to take a picture. I didn't really care to have a picture with him, but it would be cool to have one of him I guess. He followed me for a little bit and then went into a trailer. I rarely see celebrities out and about, but it is really fun when you do see someone.
So this last part as nothing to do with New York, but I watched the George Strait special on tv tonight and it was so great. I absolutely love him and I am reminded of how amazing he is every time. I have been listening to only George Strait songs since it was on.
