For the past 2 weeks I have been home on vacation. I got home on the 10th which was Megan's birthday, so the family went out to dinner to celebrate. We went to the Oasis, a restaurant on the lake and it was beautiful. The food wasn't that great though. Megan had to go back to school early Monday morning, so I didn't get to spend much time with her. That first week of vacation I spent a lot of time with Brittany. She doesn't have a job yet, so we ran errands together and played her Wii a lot! I got to see and catch up with some other friends as well. I slept a lot, which was really nice. My second week of vacation looked similar to the first. I went to Waco one day to see some more friends and I really enjoyed it. Brittany, Deidre and I played more Wii, and I am actually decent now, which is exciting. Last Thursday I went to a Natalie Grant concert which was really good. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I have also been to some of Morgan's volleyball games. They haven't had much competition which isn't as exciting, but it has still been good to watch some volleyball. Speaking of volleyball, I have also been watching the Olympics. I loved watching them and I will miss beach and indoor volleyball and gymnastics so much! Yesterday I drove down to New Braunfels to see my grandparents, as well as my aunt, uncle, and cousins. We went to dinner last night and hung out for awhile afterwards. Today I left New Braunfels and came to San Antonio to see my other grandparents. I'll go back tomorrow to get some other things done before I go back to New York.
Since I have been home, I have been driving the Lexus. I don't want you to be misled. This Lexus is a great little car, but it does not have the same appeal and luxury that you typically associate with that name. This Lexus is as old as my brother. It is a '92 that has had its share of problems. Lucky for me though, it is perfectly fine right now. This car has also had its fair share of drivers. It started (in our family at least) with my dad. Then it went to Megan, and then to Davis. When I moved, Davis got my old car, so the Lexus has been sitting around for a couple months. I drove it in May while I was home and it was shaky and smelled like gasoline. Needless to say, I was not looking forward to driving it while I was home. But I didn't really have any option, so I started driving it and fell in love. It is not shaky or smelly anymore, so it is much more enjoyable to drive. I decided that I like being low to the ground, like I was when I had my camero in high school. It has a few dents, and a couple other things that are falling apart, but all the features still work, like all the automatic things and the sunroof. I haven't enjoyed the sunroof much because it is so hot here, but I still like having it available. I love driving right now and I volunteer to drive everywhere.
There has been a popular theme to my vacation. It is the fact that Morgan looks just like me. I have always known this, but now that she is all grown up, it is even more obvious to everyone who sees us. There have been so many occasions that I finally told my mom that if I had a dollar for every time someone made a comment about us looking alike, I wouldn't need a salary. Our own brother gets us mixed up. That isn't saying a whole lot, because, come on...it's Davis, but still! Morgan told me that a girl on her volleyball team almost ran up to me and gave me a hug because she thought I was Morgan. I was wearing street clothes and Morgan was in her volleyball clothes. Seriously, people!
This time next week I will be getting ready for the school supply sale. Hopefully this time next week I will be moving into an apartment, but I wouldn't bet on it. To give a quick update on that situation, they needed more proof of income, so I gave it to them and haven't heard anything since last Tuesday, despite a follow up email. Among other prayer requests, we are still looking for someone to lead worship for us when we start our full church launch on September 14th.
Other prayer requests are for 2 of my friends who are jobless. Brittany needs a teaching job and Amy needs something as well, but is more open to what that might be.
